Please join us in congratulating Steve M. Ashbrock, who was presented with the 2026 John W. Hoglund Award. This award is presented by the IFSTA Executive Board to an individual who has exhibited outstanding leadership and service to the board and the organization during their tenure.
Stephen M. Ashbrock is a seasoned fire service leader with 43 years of active service dedicated to the industry. Currently retired, he most recently served as Fire Chief for the Madeira & Indian Hill Joint Fire District, where he spent 18 years. Prior to this role, he completed 25 years of active service with the Reading Fire Department, serving as a Firefighter-Paramedic, Company Officer, and Fire Chief. Mr. Ashbrock has made significant contributions to the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA), serving on numerous manual committees, including Essentials of Fire Fighting (3rd and 5th editions), Fire Department Safety Officer, Foam, Chief Officer, Company Officer, and Strategy & Tactics.
