Chief Dennis Compton has been engaged in the fire service for 56 years, including serving as Fire Chief in Mesa (AZ) for six years and Assistant Fire Chief in Phoenix (AZ), rising throughout the ranks for 28 years. He has performed at the Command level during many local, state, and national emergency incidents and disasters (natural and human-caused). Chief Compton is Past Chair of the International Fire Service Training Association Executive Board, and is past chair of both the Congressional Fire Services Institute National Advisory Council and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Board of Directors. Chief Compton has served on several other national, state, and local boards, including as past secretary of the International Public Safety Data Institute Board of Directors, and he is a current member of the Science to the Station Board of Directors. He is also a well-known speaker, executive advisor, and author.
