Computer Specialist- Web

Fire Protection Publications (FPP) is a mission-driven, values-based organization dedicated to the production of high-quality educational content for the international community of firefighters and first responders. FPP is an Engineering Extension unit of the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University.

We are looking for the right individual to serve as Computer Specialist-Web, you will be responsible for supporting the digital presence of Fire Protection Publications and the International Fire Service Training Association. You will create and maintain digital content on web platforms as well as the consistency of branding across all online channels. This individual will optimize website layout and navigation and closely monitor FPP’s website and other digital platforms in order to continually improve our digital presence.

This position will be based in Stillwater, OK. Areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create and update web and product pages
  • Monitor the website in a proactive manner to ensure that information is accurate, content is current and pages are free of errors
  • Use cross-browser testing tools to verify web page compatibility for different browsers and platforms
  • Test content in the development environment before move to production web server
  • Help set-up new webpage/sections and campaign pages using conversion design/ landing page optimization principles
  • Assist Web manager to preform A/B of multivariate testing to improve the effectiveness of the webpage design.
  • Collect content for digital distribution that encourages user engagement and improves conversion
  • Work with graphic designers and video producers to collect multimedia content
  • Relay customer feedback and comments to appropriate departments

Qualifications: High school diploma (or GED) and six years related experience with the requirement to receive bachelor’s degree within six years of hire or bachelor’s degree and one year of related experience. Have knowledge and experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS. Possess working knowledge and demonstrated competency of PHP, or similar coding language. Have the ability to track and meet deadlines, learn new skills and to solve problems. Must be organized and pay attention to detail and quality. Compensation: Compensation for this position will be based on work experience, skills and abilities the selected candidate brings to the position. The current hiring range for Oklahoma State University is $16.21 - $28.50 per hour.
