Project Specialist (FPP Curriculum) - Req16650

Fire Protection Publications (FPP) is a mission-driven, values-based organization dedicated to the production of high-quality educational content for the international community of firefighters and first responders. FPP is an Engineering Extension unit of the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University.

We are looking for the right individual to serve as an FPP Project Specialist – Curriculum. This individual will research, compose, and/or edit original text for drafts of new or revised curriculum materials, evaluation instruments, multi-media materials, fire service training manuals, marketing materials and newsletter. Participate in the implementation of goals and objectives for Fire Protection Publications and monitor and Explore latest developments in vocational training, adult education, fire service training. May represent FPP and IFSTA at meetings, conferences and other related functions. Deliver presentations and curriculum orientations at seminars, conferences, university functions or staff meetings upon request. This position is based on the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater, OK. It is an office-based position; remote and hybrid work are not currently an option for this role.


Areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create original curriculum and testing materials based on training manuals and professional qualifications standards.
  • May assist with locate, plan, and review illustrations, photos, multimedia and other support materials for curriculum and review all printed and electronic materials for completion and accuracy.
  • Coordinate or perform editorial review of curriculum, drafts, newsletters and curriculum-related advertising materials for correct technical content, consistency, spelling, grammar, punctuation and style.
  • Ensure that all component parts of major publications are complete, accurately identified and of sufficient quality to meet publication standards.
  • Work with the production department on typesetting, formats, styles for final copy and on layout diagrams and illustrations.
  • Responsible for development and preparation of all instructional and student support materials including but not limited to lesson outlines, quizzes, digital slides, classroom activities and study guides.
  • Participate in both long-range and short-range planning of Fire Protection Publications procedures.
  • Participate in the scheduling and prioritizing of curriculum publications and projects.
  • Research and recommend new methods to improve the overall FPP operations.
  • Participate in focus groups related to FPP curriculum materials and products.
  • Will represent FPP and IFSTA by serving as a Lead Instructional Developer to IFSTA validation committees. May represent FPP and IFSTA on NFPA and other major fire service organization technical committees.
  • Deliver presentations and curriculum orientations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in related field and one year related working experience. Ability to analyze technical information and develop curriculum material and evaluation instruments to support it; edit and proofread training materials. Ability to work from a file server in a shared network environment. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft and PowerPoint. Demonstrated understanding and application of FPP's organizational values: Service, Safety, Quality, Integrity, Excellence, Professionalism, Accuracy, Collaboration, Credibility, Innovativeness, Accountability. Highly organized, ability to set and maintain schedules, excellent writing skills, excellent communication skills, attention to details, time management, ability to influence and guide a group toward a common goal.


Compensation:

Compensation for this position will be based on the work experience, skills and abilities the selected candidate brings to the position. The current hiring range for Oklahoma State University is $21.25 – 29.00 per hour.
