The Library's mission is to provide comprehensive resources and services in support of research and learning needs of the international fire community.
The Fire Protection Publications (FPP) Library was established to support the research requirements of FPP editors while researching and writing IFSTA manuals. In 1995, the Director expanded the scope of the Library to provide assistance to fire subject researchers worldwide.
The Library contains over 10,000 books, 160 fire service magazines, 4000 technical reports, 620 linear feet of archival material and photographs
We will assist with reference requests, including literature searches, using a number of electronic resources available to the Library staff
Sources of interest in the Library:
- Comprehensive collection of fire-related materials on firefighter, building codes, rescue, fire suppression, history of fire profession, arson investigation and instruction and various other topics for first responders
- NFPA codes and standards
- Reports and proceedings from National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), National Institute of Standards (NIST), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), U.S. Fire Administration
