Fire Service Affiliate

Steve Austin is the Project Manager of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association's Emergency Response Safety Institute. The Institute is recognized as a leading source of information and advocacy concerning highway incident scene safety. Steve's fire service career spans more than 40 years of service. Steve is a life member of the Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder Company of Newark, Delaware, where he serves as a Fire Police Officer. He is involved in national fire service issues as the Director of Governmental Relations for the International Association of Arson Investigators. He serves as a member of a number of boards and foundations including the Board of Directors of the Safety Health and Survival Section of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. He is also the Fire Service Advisor to the Congressional Fire Services Institute.

Steve serves as the Vice Chairman of the Fire Service National Professional Qualifications System and is a 2005 Senior Fellow at the George Washington University Homeland Security Policy Institute. He is Past President of the Delaware Volunteer Firemen's Association and the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association.

Steve recently retired as a Senior Public Policy Analyst from the State Farm Insurance Company with 37 years of service. He now consults on fire and emergency service issues.
