Elizabeth Hendel

Fire Department

Elizabeth (Beth) Hendel is a deputy chief for the Phoenix, Arizona Fire Department. Chief Hendel has served with the Phoenix Fire Department for over 30 years and has been attached to the Aviation section for the past 9 years. She is a board member, section representative for the Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Working Group (ARFFWG). She is also a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Technical Committee, and has her Airport Master Firefighter designation through the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).

Beth holds a BA in Public Safety Administration and an MS in Leadership with an emphasis in Disaster Planning and Management. Beth is an adjunct faculty member for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide.

Chief Hendel has previously served on the IFSTA Validation Committee for the Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting manual and was one of two individuals for the test validation of this book. She was first elected to the IFSTA Executive Board in 2017.
