Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell

Fire Organization

Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell, Assistant to the General President of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), is in charge of Technical Assistance for Labor Issues and Collective Bargaining, Fire and EMS Operations, and IAFF Field Services. She has extensive expertise in emergency response system design, staffing and deployment of mobile resources, system performance measurement, and evaluation. Lori began her career as a firefighter/paramedic with the Memphis, Tennessee Fire Department and Local 1784. She joined the IAFF headquarters operation in 1993 and has risen through the ranks of that organization. Lori holds an undergraduate degree in education and EMS from the University of Memphis and has masters and doctoral degrees from the George Washington University School of Public Health. Lori is a respected lecturer, writer, and researcher with a long list of accomplishments over the course of her career. She serves on numerous boards and committees and has been the recipient of the prestigious James O. Page Achievement Award by the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC). Dr. Moore-Merrell was also recently awarded the Dr. John Granito Award for Excellence in Fire Leadership and Management Research.
