Fire Protection Publications (FPP) is a mission-driven, values-based organization dedicated to the production of high-quality educational content for the international community of firefighters and first responders. FPP is an Engineering Extension unit of the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University.

We are looking for the right individual to serve as a FPP Curriculum Developer. This individual will research, compose or edit original curriculum material and explore latest developments in vocational, adult and fire service training through travel, contact, and reading. This individual will represent Fire Protection Publications and IFSTA at meetings, conferences and other related functions. This position will be based in Stillwater, OK.

Responsibilities: include but are not limited to:

  • Create original curriculum and testing materials based on our training manuals
  • Perform editorial review of curriculum drafts and curriculum-related advertising materials for correct technical content, consistency, spelling, grammar, punctuation, accessibility and style
  • Participate in long range and short range planning of FPP curriculum department operations, policies and procedures
  • Research and recommend new methods to improve the overall FPP operations
  • Represent FPP and IFSTA by serving as a lead instructional developer to IFSTA validation committees
  • Deliver presentations and curriculum orientations at seminars, conferences, university functions and staff meetings upon request


  • High school diploma (or GED) and seven years of experience, or two years of post-secondary education and five years of experience, or bachelor's degree and three years experience in work related to curriculum design, technical writing, editing, instructional development, or related field
  • Ability to analyze technical information and develop curriculum materials and evaluation instruments to support learning outcomes
  • Ability to edit and proofread training material and to work from a file server in a shared network environment
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of FPP's organizational values: Service, Safety, Quality, Integrity, Excellence, Professionalism, Accuracy, Collaboration, Credibility, Innovativeness, Accountability

Compensation: Compensation for this position will be based on the work experience, skills and abilities the selected candidate brings to the position. The current hiring range for Oklahoma State University is $17.31 - $23.08 per hour.
